Tia, maybe

I say maybe because I'm not sure of her name but also, I'm not sure I'll keep it. Very not happy with it while doing it, but the next day I'm not so sure. Maybe could finish it.

Sketches

The first is for a small painting, potentially for the Concordia/OSA show. The second is from the Thursday drawing club. I went for the first time and quite enjoyed it. Everyone else has a drawing or painting of Tim, so I had to take this opportunity!

Kitty

Last Friday's session up at Kat's. 97% done in the 3-hr session; a few touch-ups done at home. I felt it was successful in capturing the forward-leaning weight and presence of the subject.

Bronwyn #2

This is slow going, trying to figure out the lighting and consequent warm/cool color shifts. I feel like a mad scientist, trying to concoct a luminescent hue. I'm wondering if what I'm seeking is within the spectrum of the human eye. I'm fighting the urge to put in a really dark background. But will probably lose that struggle.

I have to divert to the two Concordia/OSA pieces, which are due soon.

Model Marathon #64

Hipbone's 64th marathon, and again, stamina only allowed for 7 of the 9 models during the day. Way too many drawings to photograph, so these represent the most rigid, academic sort of approach (graphite), and the color-interpretation-of-value direction I rather like (pastel). These marathons are great for pushing myself out of my habitual patterns. At least, towards the end (before I totally zonk out and leave), I get closer to an area that I want to pursue further.

Bronwyn (?) - First sketch

Detail from the second model session of the new year at Studio 30. (Model's name uncertain.) This is the same point I come to frequently... where I run out of time, get it home, and don't know where to go with it. Yes, as critiqued, the background should be simpler. But whether to resolve face and arms further, or not. Where to add a dash of orchid, or emerald or pink or what or not at all. I've been in this room before. Where is the darn door?

"Bil" at Kat's Studio 30

This is as far as I got. Not sure where to go with it. Posting for the record.

New phone - new art!

I'm liking my new phone a bunch. It comes with a stylus, and I've downloaded the SketchBook Pro app (Autodesk), and have made a few preliminary efforts with it. I think I'm going to like it, and may even pony up for the paid subscription so I can keep using the "free tools". One such tool is layers, and this sketch began with a photo on the bottom layer. But right after I started, I got interrupted and had to close down the program. When I opened it up again, no more photo layer. So I kept working on this a bit, and then it was time to go... and this is as far as I got.... and here it is! For the record.
