I can't tell you how many times I've heard that you shouldn't paint from photographs. Well, whatever. This one is painted from a photo from my travels, I think this trip was in 1985. The thing that made me go for my camera was when he saw I was going to take a picture, he started to adjust his outfit, and the vanity of the gesture kind of surprised me. So that is what I'm trying to depict here--a gesture. This is a work in progress, and I'm posting it now in a futile attempt to keep this blog in chronological order. And I'm behind (again) in posting.
